Airplanes and Bubbles!

That’s what this shoot was all about and thank goodness I brought both!

Not every little kiddo wants to be photographed. I have walked into many shoots only to find a little one clinging to mom or dad, or hiding every time I bring my camera up to my face, or crying because they do not want to be put down. They usually don’t know me and they most certainly don’t want to be photographed by me!  And, you know what, that is just fine! I mean, can you really blame these little people for feeling this way? I sure can’t.

Lucky for me, I have worked with children of all ages since I was 15 years old. It’s perfectly normal for little ones not to want to warm up to strangers right off the bat. They want you to gain their trust and show them that you are a fun person! That, is exactly what I did while photographing these two little ones! Nothing wrong with a little play time before, during and after our shoot!

Handsome little Lukas was actually all smiles from the get-go. Of course, I still had to play with him a bit before taking pictures! He has the greatest smile and loved to flash it! His big sis, on the other hand, wasn’t so sure about getting her picture taken! She was fine with me walking in her house and talking to her, but the second we mentioned picture taking she burst into tears!

I wanted to show her what I was all about; why I was at her house! Not only to take pictures, but also to have fun! I started with her brother since he was all about the camera. I had her help me make him smile. Seriously, that wasn’t hard to do! He was a ham! He also just turned a year old and started walking shortly after! So, like any new walker would, he got up the second we sat his little bum on the floor.

That’s when the airplane comes in handy! I have been carrying it around with me in my “bag-o-toys”. The second we gave him the airplane, he sat down to play. How easy was that? Awesome! I took some adorable pictures of him with the plane. I love candid pictures!

His sis still wasn’t so sure about having her picture taken though. Even while watching the rest of her family take pictures, she still wasn’t wanting to join them. I put down the camera again and chatted with her. She loves to talk! It made her feel more comfortable with me. Then, I brought out the bubbles! THAT won her over! She was all smiles and held on to those bubbles for the rest of the shoot! I was able to take all the pictures I wanted of her!

Hurray for airplanes and bubbles!  :)
